Yes, I know I've not been a very faithful blogger lately. But hopefully I'll stop being lazy and start writing stuff already.... yeap. I don't think it's ever going to happen.

Last week, we had the most wonderful, most inspiring talk ever, instiling a sense of patriotism in the hearts of all students: yes, my friends, I am talking about the Nation Building Talk. In fact, this talk is so memorable that I would like to share with you the wonderful moments of that talk. To avoid writing a post that would make Virginia Woolf proud, I shall just post up snippets of said inspiring talk.
---
"Good morning SMK Wesley Methodist School." was how the speaker greeted us. She then proceeded to explain to us the importance of English and reading. Ah.
She said the theme of the Nation Building Talk is transformation. Whoo. Impressive. She then played us 3 video clips that shall forever be imprinted in my heart.
...First Video Clip...
(2 people sitting)
Guy & Girl : Hai, long time no c!
Guy (randomly): Eh, do u noe wat is transformationz?
Girl: Transformationz? We do not tok abt this word anymore la. Wat is transformationz?
Guy: Let me give u an example. My sister has very horriblez skin, lot of pimplez. So she always use cosmestics. Then, 1 day, she saw this skincare specialist. So she went inside for facial.
Girl: Facial?
Guy: Hei sister! U kan perempuan. U dun noe wats facial? So anyway. She went inside and it was a long and painful process but in the end, it was worth it bcoz her skin become so pretty already!
(shows a girl standing, with sunlight pouring on her face)
Girl: O u meanz 2 say that, transformationz is not about covering up, but dealing with d root problem?
Guy: Ah, sister. U're so smart!
....Second Video Clip.....
It is set in a mechanic's workshop. A man drives up into the workshop, gets out and attempts to strike a cool pose, or so he presumes.
Guy: (obviously lip-synching) I would like to think of transformation like maintaining my "baby" (pats car absent-mindedly). They require constant maintenance and ...blah blah blah.... something about replacing old parts with new parts.
After that, I pretty much forgotten about it as I was very much distracted by the man's bad lip-synching and unnecessary gestures.
....Third Video Clip....
In a school. It is all black and white. This video is akin to a soap opera.
Girl: (sitting very emo-ly) It had been 3 months since my friend committed suicide. One day, she couldn't take the pressure of exams and killed herself. I now have a phobia of heights.
(next scene shows a teacher dragging the poor girl to look down from the balcony)
Girl: I began seeing a guidance counsellor. She tried to help me.
(as soon as the girl look down from the balcony, she screamed and ran away, flailing her limbs wildly)
(next scene shows both girl and counsellor near the balcony, the girl looks down but she has been cured!)
Girl: But soon under her constant care, I began to grow better. All thanks to the guidance counsellor.
(girl left the guidance counsellor, who was supposed to look contemplatively into the distance. None of that. She merely looked into the camera, smiling goofily.)

After that, Gabriel who greeted us with a "Do not be worried!" asked for volunteers for a game. Needless to say, half of the boys in our school ran up to the stage while a few girls trickled in. They split into two groups.
They were supposed to extend their index fingers and let a long pole rest on the fingers. They were then meant to pass it to the other line of people in their group. Jonathan P. James did not feel the need to do anything xD
Later...
Gabriel: So what did you learn after playing this game?
JiaWen: I didn't play the game.
Gabriel: (grabs JPJ instead) So what did you learn after playing this game?
JPJ: I learned that you have to touch the pole.
Gabriel: Anything else?
JPJ: Uh. Teamwork.
Gabriel: Anything else?
JPJ: No that's it.

That's it for now. Hopefully this post has amused you greatly. Tata!
